+  In an attempt to reduce the maintenance burden that Gradle introduces,
+  the application build downloads a couple of tools from Maven Central and runs
+  them before Gradle is used in any form (instead of using Gradle plugins).
+
+  1. It downloads Ktlint and runs it over the source code for Kotlin linting.
+  2. It downloads xstructural, which is used to generate XHTML documentation
+     that's then copied into the Android assets directory for the app.
+
+  The jar files are not used after the initial execution. All of the jar files
+  and binaries have free/open licenses.
